3.Again this stitch is worked vertically in the first row,, the starting point of the knot is taken from the centre of the previously worked knotted cable stitch. Arrow stitch variation and knotted cable stitches are worked in the second row. Two feather stitches are worked after knotted cable stitches in the third row.

4.Rimjim thread is laced through the individual knotted cable stitches in the first row. This stitch is worked over straight stitches in the second row,[ I was hoping for butterfly chain effect here, but the twisted chain was tricky]. The last row of this stitch is worked with pistil stitches.

I seem to have been working only on TAST challenge these past few weeks. Still I am looking forward to TAST2013 challenge. I never thought, I’ll work all the stitches of this year’s challenge, but slowly I made progress and today the total length of my TAST 2012 stitch samplers is 43 FEET!
I did not aim for anything in particular, just hoped I’ll complete all the stitches.
Though some stitches were repeated and was worked again, I always learnt something new. To give a life to an idea was an uplifting experience. After looking at the new sample, a new idea formed again. This was a wonderful learning process.
The way other people shared their creative endeavours also motivated me.my heartfelt thanks to SharonB for making all these things possible.
Eager to start TAST 2013!

Knotted cable stitch is the 51st week stitch of the TAST 2012 challenge by SharonB.
I had done this stitch sampler earlier on this challenge under the heading of chain stitch varieties. I had some incomplete stitches from earlier TAST challenges, of which four were chosen and worked  on this chain stitch varieties.
This being last stitch of this challenge, a small sampler would be a nice finishing touch. The sampler as of today-

1.Not remembering exactly how the stitch was done [after working the sampler!] I wanted to work the basic knotted cable stitch in the first row, and individual knotted cable stitches are worked in the second row. The starting point of the following k.cable stitch was taken inside the preceding stitch in the third row. If it is too confusing, the picture tells all.

2.Combining this stitch with oyster stitch in the first row, cleared the mix-up of these two stitches. Individual knotted cable stitches are worked with Algerian eye stitches in the second row and Cretan stitch in the third row.

The stitch sampler is completed after working these three samples with other TAST stitches.
The other TAST stitches- Italian border stitch and berry stitch in the first row. French knots and buttonhole wheel variation in the second row. Pekinese and pistil stitch in the third row.

I like the look of this stitch, it looks like a braid when worked closely. And I thoroughly enjoyed working on this sampler.

After setting the proper method to work this stitch, I worked some more samples on this stitch sampler.

3. I tried widening the stitch by working the alternate bars with a break in between in the first row. The second row is laced with rimjim thread. The third row is whipped with pink thread on both sides.

The 47th week stitch is Portuguese border stitch on the TAST 2012 stitch challenge by SharonB. This stitch featured in the earlier TAST challenge. Looking at the condition of my samples, it would not be right to say I have done this before.
The first problem was the cone thread was not the ideal thread to work this stitch. While writing my post, I found from SharonB’s related post, the stitch should be worked differently. The needle should move outwards and not inwards as I have done.
I’ll take care of it from the next sample. hoping that this method would be easier.
The sampler of Portuguese border stitch worked inwards-

1.The first row is basic stitch! Two lines of this stitch worked together in opposite directions. The third row is half- Portuguese border stitch.

2.The stitch worked in a curve in the first row. The stitch is worked in two colours alternatively at an angle. The thread goes around the bar three times instead of two in the third row.

This is great stitch and easy stitch for beautiful embellishments. I enjoyed working on this stitch sampler.
Beads did not feature in this sampler too. I am yet to start thinking with beads for my samplers. though I get inspired by other people’s bead work , the skill seems to elude me at this time.

I continued working berry stitch along with other TAST stitches. The third  part of the sampler-
