Marash embroidery
Still wavering between three ideas- to draw the motifs from the old samplers or take the inspiration and build over those old designs or choose a tunic project and start designing according to the requirement. Presently the last idea is being implemented.
The focus is on building the interlacing motifs without other kind of embroidery stitches. The design is a broad border made of kutch motif pattern along the hemline. The drawing was accomplished last night.

The weekly challenge RPW2016 was worked on Saturday.
TAST 2016 challenge stitch is Portuguese border stitch. The samples of this stitch were worked on earlier TAST challenge. The link to the post was put on FB group.

Regarding Marash embroidery study and implement, this progress has slowed down a bit. Designing is progress for a tunic. The idea for another project with this embroidery is still simmering.

There was not much progress on embroidery work. I was seeing many Marash embroidery work. The history of Armenia was sad.
Keeping the idea of Marash embroidery a border was designed. I am a novice at circular kutchwork patterns. Three more ideas on this type of embroidery are waiting in queue. It is a different experience to plan and scheme a kutch pattern without mirrors or other stitches. Still it is very interesting. Hope to design them all before it slips from the memory.

RPW2016
The chart could be completed on the day it was posted on this challenge.
TAST 2016
I am yet to post the samples of fern stitch worked during earlier TAST challenge on FB group. This week we have another stitch -buttonhole wheel cup. I just posted the sampler on FB.
Black border tunic
The border on this tunic is woven with metallic yarn. It came back half sewn from the tailor, for working the embroidery. After tracing the pattern, I started the chain stitch outlines with gold metallic thread. A paisley pattern was also traced on this tunic front.

After the Dubai, I was itching to do some simple embroidery on light weight fabric. This white cotton kota fabric with block prints in green is ideal. Pattern is drawn. Have to start the work.

WIPW89-whgrkota-1

WIPW89-whgrkota-1

These two fabrics are cotton, one has stripes and the other one has prints. The printed fabric will be the  front of the tunic and the striped fabric will decorate the back. Pattern drawing for embroidery is in progress. This is for a simple Indian ethnic embroidery.

Cream and black chanderi tunic
Some progress was made on this small piece this week. The sequin were attached with silk thread. the stitch worked is different from the usual mirror stitch. Holding on to the sequin was easier and keeping the thread in its place was difficult. I thought differently when this work started.

Saree falls
Our sarees are 5.5 metres long. The side which meets the ground will endure lots of wear and tear. To minimize the damage, we attach a 5 inch strip with over 2.5 metres length along that edge. These are called saree falls, easily available in many colours in India.

These falls are attached to the saree with running stitch. This repetitive work is quite relaxing and meditative and I love doing it. These two sarees were safeguarded during this week.

TAST 2016

The stitches of the past weeks have been worked before. SharonB is asking for the opinion of break after 50 stitches. Since I am not working on the current stitches, the aspect of break is not an issue. On my part I would like to learn more than the 140 stitches worked on the earlier challenge.

This tunic fabric was given to the tailor for sewing before I left for India. It came back like this. Ha has done a good job. The space below the neck needs embroidery. This will be the next project after the work on cream and black chanderi tunic.
