This week’s progress has been mediocre.

The RPW2016 challenge took more time than was expected. The completed chart.

I am going to Chennai, India tomorrow for two weeks. For the past few times these trips have been stitch free. Hoping for some embroidery productive days.
Marash embroidery/ kutchwork embroidery
Kutchwork Cream tunic with kalamkari patch
The tunic fabric was marked for neck and sleeves by the tailor. The pattern was drawn on the sleeves first. In this transfer also, the fabric to be marked is placed over the design and the pattern is drawn with a pencil. The kutchwork/ interlacing stitch/ marash embroidery commenced with the brown thread. Same colour as the brown fabric.

Orange violet combo tunic
The impact of working this kutchwork, the multi colour mirror work on white and blue combo tunic and seeing a kasuti embroidery design – all gave rise to another idea of working kutchwork embroidery in four colours on an orange and violet tunic. I am still in the process of drawing the pattern. The embroidery will be three places- the sleeves, below the neck and a big design on the right hand side of the tunic. I may have more details after the designs are completed.

The mirror work around the neck and sleeves on this blue white combo tunic was completed.

After working the sleeves with brown thread, I proceeded with the work on tunic front. The spaces inside the squares will have the mirrors.

We don’t have many bookshops in Muscat. While in Dubai we visited a huge bookshop in The Dubai Mall. I was surprised and excited to find lots of Adult colouring books. My interest is more on the designs than the actual colouring. Happy to have bought these books there.

RPW2016
This week’s chart was completed on Saturday. The cross stitch alphabets are really interesting to work with variegated thread.

Grey crepe tunic
I managed to work the three motifs on one sleeve during this week. Now started on the border. Though the project is a long one, making some progress has brought back the enthusiasm, which was at the beginning of this project.

TAST 2016
Yesterday on TAST 2016 challenge SharonB has combined two week’s stitches into one- Long tail chain plain, beaded and whipped. These samples were worked in 2014. The links to the details are here.

In the meantime, I am just toying with some ideas on the next project.

Today’s chart on RPW 2016 challenge was completed. This week I had to start with the second skein of the variegated thread used on this project. This is just for information to know how long the 8 metre skein lasts. The free graph is here.

RPW2016-W8

RPW2016-W8

The spacing between two letters in the alphabets worked today is two squares. there were two exceptions, there is only one square space between ‘f’ and ‘g’ and again between ‘g’ and ‘h’, seeing there were some squares left after the last letter ’q’ on this row, I altered the space between ‘g’ and ‘h’ from one to two.

Today’s chart of alphabets on Randje per week 2016 challenge was completed. the free chart is on this site.

This week’s chart on Randje per week 2016 challenge was completed on Saturday, the day it was posted.
Grey crepe tunic
The progress is quite slow on this tunic. Another motif was completed on the front of the tunic. Though it is chain stitch filling in one colour at this time [the stitches in blue thread was worked first], and I work for two hours in a day, the progress is very slow.

We are still working on the pink and blue raw tunic for my friend. Double cross stitch variations with beads are worked over evenly placed marks on the sleeves.

TAST 2016
The samples of this week’s Vandyke stitch on TAST 2016 was already worked in 2013. This was posted on facebook group page yesterday

This week also we have another set of alphabets on Randje per week 2016 challenge. The chart for this week is available on this blog. After moaning about the missing ‘O’ and ‘X’ I made a mistake in spacing between numbers- ‘3’ and ‘4’. This is compensated while starting the alphabets. To complete each row on the same square.
