I could complete the green gold silk fabric for my friend this week. After that I was alternatively working with  these two  projects in progress.
 Green boat neck tunic.

The diamond  shaped mirrors are being stitched on this green boat neck top. I am working 2 or 3 mirrors at a time every day.

 Black and gold tunic.

The leaves and tendrils are worked in stem stitch with 3 strands. The stems are worked in 4 strands. At this point, I am thinking it is taking more time than expected. The design offers scope for more details. But if I work on them, this project might take time which is not practical. Keeping it simple and just be within the plan will be the best option. I took an aspect of a big paisley design and modified and  drew the size I wanted  from this book, I have.

Though all designs are interesting, I tend to favour traditional Indian designs. Before being exposed to this embroidery world through the web, I grew up seeing these designs around. Hand embroidery takes time, to work on each and every idea may not be possible. But some of them are very inspiring, calming the mind and gives contentment too.

I was juggling with projects this week.
Green gold tunic
All the 31 motifs were completed first in this week. My friend was happy, now we both felt the neck and the sleeves were too plain, instead of attempting a border, we decided to work the same motifs on the neck and sleeves.
Green
I have started on a more leisurely pace on this project now. There are 11 motifs to work- 4 on each sleeve and 5 around the neck.

Green boat neck tunic
The satin stitch circles were completed this week. Next stage is to stitch the diamond mirrors and then the round mirrors. Attaching the mirrors needs more concentration, have to choose the right time.
WIPW241-greeboatt-6
Blue neck embroidery
I am working chain stitch in the space between the back stitch lines with the same blue skein.

Black and gold tunic
This tunic is marked and cut by the tailor, if I don’t complete it at a reasonable time, he might misplace the rest of the fabric. The work started with the leaves. This may be a big project.
WIPW241-blagolt-2

It was New Year day, after deciding to go with the projects in progress, by afternoon, an idea to start a new tunic project came to mind.
The tailor had marked a black silk tunic for embroidery 2 days before 2020 started.
blagolt-1
The gold fabric with black  border lines is a long stole [duppatta] for this black tunic. Earlier, I had drawn and prepared a single paisley design for this. After I  traced the pattern onto the fabric, my friend came with a sewn tunic, which she got from the tailor that day. He had sewn it well, she wanted to incorporate a small  motif all over the front of the tunic, which she had seen somewhere, but couldn’t get hold of it again .I tried some stitching on the inside neck with sample threads to give reality to her idea.
greegolt[c]-1
I started marking the placements of the motif and drew an upright cross[2 cm] on them that night. Next day I worked 2 motifs, and searched my stash also for similar options.
greegolt[c]-2
Her idea when she said I couldn’t interpret in embroidery, after deliberating for some time changing the metallic threads, we could arrive at something common. This is the motif she is happy with.It is worked brown metallic thread, silver metallic thread and same green silk thread.

Total number of motifs -31. I am still working on them. I completing each and moving onto another. This might be completed by next week.

Happy New Year!
This year’s starts on a Wednesday, best time to make a resolution to post regularly on blog.
The projects are in progress, so nothing to start for new year, just continue working on these ones. Christmas was  a surprise with my friends being here instead of their usual vacation, which I will share on another post.
Green boat neck blouse progress is gradual on this neck borders, I enjoy the variety given by this pattern.

Red cotton
Actually my friend has this idea of embroidery in black on red fabric. The red Egyptian cotton was bought to work this idea, I could draw and trace floral clusters on this fabric. When I started to work, both of us realized, the contrast could be more. Still having started it, I am planning to work on it, there might be left over fabric for another short tunic, which can also be used to bring this idea in a better way.
WIPW239-redcottka-2
Blue neckline while working on navy neckline embroidery, I worked only with cream threads, this time it will be a combination of blue and cream. Started the project after tracing the design.
WIPW239-creblut-2
Stitching time seems to have reduced during this year, stitch challenges were not done much at all. Have to evaluate and bring some changes, otherwise after some time, even new ideas might diminish.
More stitching this year!

Still working on tunic projects this week.
Completed the mirrors on grey striped tunic. And it is with the tailor now.
WIPW237-grortk-8
Navy neckline
This neckline embroidery also was completed. The finished piece is given to my friend.
WIPW237-crenat-7
Inspired again by this dark and light contrast idea, I designed another neckline for a cream chiffon tunic .The embroidery will be done on dark blue silk cotton fabric.
WIPW237-creblut-1
Yellow green boat neck
This border will have diamond mirrors later. The triangles were worked with closed Cretan stitch.
WIPW237-greeboatt-4
Red cotton
This fabric is Egyptian cotton. I had planned to start work on this tunic, the dark blue neckline embroidery idea intruded. Have to see if I‘ll find time this week to work on a design for this tunic.
WIPW237-redcottka-1

I worked on four projects this week.
Grey striped tunic
The pattern around the neck and inside the teardrop motif was worked first. The next stage is working the mirrors.
WIPW236-grortk-7
Grey cotton chikan tunic
The neckline was also worked with chikan [shadow] work. It is ready to go to the tailor, once it comes back, I am have to work along the hemline.
WIPW236-gycottchi-6
Navy neckline
The work on this neckline is moving quite fast this week.
WIPW236-crenat-6
The oval shapes on the border around this boat neck are being worked with closed herringbone.
WIPW236-greeboatt-3
Quite satisfied with this week’s progress.

The progress was quite interesting this week. I think sometimes it is better to work on 2 or more small projects at a time. Three tunic projects were worked this week.
Green boat neck blouse
This project started off with chain stitch and buttonhole stitch lines. More yellow will be added during this project
WIPW235-greeboatt-2
The grey cotton blouse
The eight motifs were completed, today started with the neckline.
WIPW235-gycottchi-5
Navy neckline
After completing the chain stitch scallops, it is straight stitches and back stitch time on these cone shapes. I love this half white on navy silk /cotton.
WIPW235-crenat-5
I found an interesting past time with Youtube a few days ago. There is a channel– the videos are long, the embroidery is meditative, a good companion to work with. I am not working on any of the work shown there, it will  be good to work like that though.

It was a good week embroidery wise. Three tunics were worked and two designs were drawn for the next two tunics.
Grey orange tunic
The chain stitches worked in lighter orange was completed around the neck.
WIPW234-grortk-5
Two lines of chain stitches were worked on this teardrop motif.
WIPW234-grortk-6
The fifth motif on this grey tunic was completed yesterday.
WIPW234-gycottchi-4
Surprisingly, it is not tedious working on this blue neckline embroidery with chain stitches in half-white thread. I wonder why!
WIPW234-crenat-4
I have two synthetic chiffon material, which were supposed to be used as duppatta [scarf] for Indian tunics- one is black and another one is bright lemon yellow. The time has come to change them into wearable fabrics.
My friend fell in love with the yellow and wants to make a skirt. I have a saree, which has the blouse fabric attached to it in green. This might go well as blouse for the yellow skirt. A boat neck design with border patterns was drawn for this project.
WIPW234-greeboatt-1
For the black chiffon-I had seen a yoke design with borders and mirrors on the web some time ago. I have a black silk cotton fabric. A yoke made of kutchwork borders with mirror spaces was drawn two days ago.
Maybe I will know by next Wednesday, when these patterns will be traced on to the fabrics.

Our PC went for an outing last Wednesday.
After seeing this week’s SSS challenge stitch, which seems like an easy stitch, it is better to bring the sample cloth out again.
Now for the projects in progress-
Two more motifs were worked in shadow work [closed herringbone] or chikan work on this grey cotton tunic.
WIPW233-gycottchi-3
Chain stitch lines with lighter orange thread is being worked on this grey striped tunic.
WIPW233-grortk-4
The work on this navy silk cotton neckline will again be predominantly chain. I think chain stitch is extremely infectious and spreads widely. It does not let any other stitch to come to mind.
WIPW233-crenat-3
Progress is slow because of the lesser time of natural light during the day. But I am designing some floral patterns for tunics, which is also good use of time.

I completed the plum cotton project. This past week was more on ideas of designing and drawing some of them.
The grey chikan work tunic lies as it was on last Wednesday. This is a long project, with the same herringbone stitch and back stitch, so I am not in a hurry.
I started embroidery around the neck line on this grey striped tunic. The kutchwork motifs are worked in the same thread, so planning to add more shades of orange on this border pattern.
WIPW232-grortku-4
I had bought this fabric in Muscat. They said it was linen, it didn’t look so. Still I liked the colour and the way it draped. It is like a soft burlap fabric in cream colour.
WIPW232-crenat-1
I had this navy silk/cotton fabric. Some simple border designs were interesting. A round neckline, with these simple curves and peaks was drawn and traced onto the navy fabric. My friend also finds it interesting! Let us wait for it to develop.
