I am still in the learning process of designing to work these TAST stitches. It is tough and interesting. Sometimes the satisfaction is there, but other times not so much. But the idea of developing each every aspect of the design with stitches lifts me up.

The working of this interesting stitch is on SharonB’s Pintangle. The stitch worked as filling.

Other linear  and isolated TAST stitches  need to worked to fill in the gaps. The flowers will blossom with detached chains. the paisley is also there.

The chained bars worked inside the paisley was outlined in linked chain stitch and the inner paisley was outlined in back stitch.

Thought the spaces between the chained bars required some attention. Stem stitch and arrow head stitches are worked here-

Sequins are added in the end. The piece looks like this

It was interesting to work the sequins on this piece. Zigzag chain worked over ribbon was an idea which did not find any place in this piece.

I need to catch on the next TAST stitch, Paisley again? I wonder.
The studio journal class is on its third week, I am presently overwhelmed at the ideas presented by Sharon there, and having some starting troubles.

Back to routine after ten days in Chennai, India. The working of this stitch is on Pin tangle.

Paisley has surfaced again on the TAST challenge. This piece was started before I left for holidays. Did not have time to even open the box of WIPs the whole time in Chennai.

The idea is to fill the paisley design with chained bar.
Starting with dark blue, and mixing dark and medium blue, the lines were filled with surface satin stitches. The zigzag chain stitch was worked in dark and light teal cotton skeins.

After working the surface satin stitch in light, medium blue and variegated threads, the zigzag chain stitch was worked in dark teal with chain stitch outline, blue and light teal.

After working the chained feather over the surface satin stitch in the bottom row, the zigzag chain stitch was worked in light teal cotton skein over medium blue polyester [slanted surface satin] and light blue cotton skein.

Continuing- The narrowed space inside the paisley was also worked in chained bar. This was done yesterday.

The design started with the idea of Indian temple structures. We have so many different structures pertaining to certain regions. There was no specific temple design that inspired this piece. My husband says this looks like a crown! to give him credit some deities do have crown like this.
It started with applique and double herringbone stitches.

The colour inspiration was from a calendar picture.

It is interesting to work other stitches in the twisted lattice band.

Chain stitch outline and upright crosses are worked in the twisted lattice band filling.

The band is whipped at the top with silk thread and two rows of arrow head stitches are worked inside the filling.

The paisley was cut out from a block printed fabric.

Back stitch and herringbone stitch are worked in blue thread. This exercise was done to reduce the brown effect

27.121.twlatband-7

27.121.twlatband-7

Blue wooden beads are stitched on to the paisley. These blue beads do not match the blue colour scheme, still I used them.

The working of this decorative stitch is on SharonB’ s Pintangle. This sampler is experiment in design and colours with appliqued paisley.
After working the twisted lattice band, fly stitch, closed buttonhole stitches are worked in the bottom sample. Buttonhole stitches laced through the herringbone stitches and buttonhole stitch outline are worked in the top row.
