This past week I have been trying to work stitches from SSS challenge. So far the stitches are easy. It is sometime since this challenge was worked. The working of this crown stitch is on Queenie’s blog.
It is a simple stitch, I wanted to get the rhythm of the stitch is the first row. Then started with varying the last stitch on this stitch arrangement. Short stitches were worked in the first variation, extra lengthy stitches in the second variation, the stitches are curved in the third variation, two stitches are worked instead of one in the fourth variation, the stitch goes under the central stitch alone in the fifth variation. Circled around the three stitches in the sixth variation, the seventh variation as linear stitch has half worked with herringbone stitch on one side, the crown stitch is worked in two shades in the eighth variation.

Now experimenting with the three straight stitches starts-
Four stitches are worked instead of three on the first variation, then five stitches were tried in the second variation, the stitches are short in the third variation, longer stitches form the fourth variation,
In the last four variations the central stitches are different embroidery stitches- fly, detached chain, pistil stitch and berry stitch.

I really enjoyed working this stitch sampler. The crown stitch gives scope for possibilities. The whole sampler-sss.79. crown stitch sampler
