I had a black cotton tunic embroidered with Kashmiri work. The embroidered piece was taken out from the tunic and attached on to this tunic. I need to work on the outline to make it more neat.

The daylight is getting shorter these days. I am not able to work for more time. The progress on projects is slow. Maybe due to dark colours being used. The challenge stitches are kept aside for a while.
The mirrors were stitched on this black border. Feeling the white open chain stitch gives too much of a contrast to the black mirrors. Initially wanted to work some silver beads over them, a friend suggested a red colour option. Trying that option, dark red stones are being stitched on the open chain stitches.

I started working on the cross stitch project, which is birthday gift. It is specifically designed to fit a square frame from IKEA. I had already presented a printed card which fitted this frame to his wife two years ago. Project might take longer than I anticipated. The pictures will be posted after the frame has been gifted. The challenges will be started after this project.

It seems I have few works in progress this week.
SALS
MMM SAL
Every day I work for half an hour on this month’s mandala. After working back stitch on the outline, design was started with the help of chart posted on the site. I didn’t realise the blurred quality of the picture.

RPW 2018
Though this a weekly SAL, I haven’t started the cross stitch. But, using the border pattern, a small book mark with Hindu lord’s name in my language is in designing stage.
WIPW161-RPW-A-1
Then, I will move on to designing these borders inspired kutchwork pattern. Whether they will be worked, is another story.
Challenges
Beyond TAST
Using the idea of working Sashiko patterns, the embroidery on yellow table cloth was started. The work in progress on the third panel.
WIPW161-BTAST-1-Sash-5
I am looking through Kogin and Swedish weaving techniques for this challenge.
SSS
The band sampler on this week’s stitch on SSS challenge was started yesterday.
I have added a few more mirrors on Blue grey ikat tunic. It gives a necessary change of work.
Some time is allotted for each work every day. Not much time on stitching, but widening the knowledge through other’s work is very interesting. Time passes very swiftly.

Embroidery is now part of daily schedule. The fasting during the day for Ramadhan started on Saturday. And the summer is in full swing. It is s hardship for people who are fasting this year.
I worked on vault stitch on SSS challenge and didn’t have to work on TAST challenge, because it was worked earlier.
Projects
The cross stitch pattern on sleeves for this polyester linen tunic was completed and the fabrics are with the tailor.
WIPW134-nbluepolinencross-5
After working the white stones, I started with green and gold zardosi beads for green benarasi georgette tunic. Cutting the zardosi beads and working the embroidery takes a little time.

Being summer, Designing embroidery for some cotton tunics would be better. So that they can be worn this summer itself.
Had written this post on Wednesday. But could post it only today.
Update- I have just started working on whipped running stitch sampler

Stitch challenges
Last week’s stitches on TAST and SSS challenges were completed and the details were posted on the blog. I have to start on this week’s SSS stitch. This week’s TAST stitch was worked earlier.
Tunic project
Some of the projects were left in Muscat, while leaving for India. The embroidery was restarted around the neck for this green Benarasi georgette fabric.
WIPW123-benagreen zardosi-1
Working with green thread and gold metallic thread was completed before the vacation. I started with gold zardosi beads and small white stones.

Lots of work to be done. Eager to work them all

Stitch challenges
This week’s stitch on SSS challenge is knotted satin stitch. This stitch is a new one to learn. It looks interesting, but whether it is an easy or difficult stitch I will know only after trying it. Still pondering over the workable designs for this stitch.
This week’s stitch on TAST challenge is Basque stitch. The samples of this stitch were worked on earlier challenges. I have noticed search for the word ‘Basque’ leads to my post of this stitch samples.
I don’t need to mention about other challenges. They aren’t happening.
Cross stitch
The cross stitches are being worked on the Aida fabric for the sleeves of navy blue polyester linen tunic.

Zardosi
A benarasi georgette tunic fabric was in the wardrobe for some months. This week a pattern around the neck was drawn for zardosi embroidery with stones. The embroidery will commence after SSS challenge and cross stitch on sleeves project.
It was quite a relaxed week of embroidery. looking forward to learn this knotted satin stitch.

Stitch challenges
SSS challenge does not have any new stitch this week. Queenie is using last five weeks stitches on a project. At present I am not planning to do anything this week. But eager to see how all these stitches are used by Queenie.
Last week’s TAST challenge stitch sampler was completed and the link was posted. This week’s stitch is alternating up and down buttonhole stitch. The samples were worked during earlier TAST challenge. The link to the post was posted on FB group page yesterday.
The other challenges are yet to be part of weekly routine.
Zardosi
The embroidery on cream raw silk was completed and the tunic fabric along with the embroidered piece is given to the tailor. The silk fabrics with lining are ideal for cool weather. I had bought some silk fabrics in India on my earlier trips. They are brought out now to be embroidered. Though a general idea was there when these fabrics were bought, it is only at the time of making them into a project the ideas are coming into shape. Another dark green fabric is in queue for zardosi embroidery.
Cross stitch
Some progress was made on the sleeves of the navy blue polyester linen tunic.

After working on current project during the day, the evenings are spent browsing the net for ideas. Focus is on zardosi embroidery. The zardosi beads look grand on silk fabrics. Most of the designs involve all over embroidery or heavy work on sarees and blouses. Not suitable for my requirement. Still looking around. yesterday some browsing was done on Parsi embroidery too. The idea of parsi embroidery was implemented on a few tunics some years ago. It was trial error at that time. may be it is time to try it again.
