Now that the embroidery on the yoke is completed, the yoke and the tunic fabric were given to the tailor for sewing.
The tailor chose a neck pattern for this tunic. Tunic with yoke and neck line-

The tailor had done a fine job on this tunic.
The length of the tunic ends just above my knees, it can be worn either with tights or jeans. For few dresses, the embellished colour combinations work out pretty well with that dress coordinates. This one comes in that category.
Otherwise the colours are fine , the dress doesn’t go with any thing else, or the embroidery is good, but the pattern is very uninteresting. It also happens, that everyone else praise how well the dress looks, but you feel , you haven’t done anything worthwhile on that.

I had planned to work embroidery on the sleeves too. after seeing the time involved in working the yoke, I dropped  the idea.

The floral motifs were worked to two colours. Then straight stitches were worked over the petals. Then centre of each flower was embellished with blue stones. Blue beads were stitched on the petals long with the straight stitches.  Forgot to take pictures  at these stages. The completed yoke-

Close up of the same. the beads and the stones are not clearly seen in the picture, but they are there!

The completed yoke was placed over the tunic fabric-

The sewn tunic with yoke and the yoke pattern on my next post.

The motif border is worked in blue thread. The next colour is dark pink. This is worked in chain stitch , outlining the blue thread.
The threads used in this yoke are silk threads, I used two strands of thread throughout the embroidery. the stitches were simple. The starting of the pink thread-

Then straight stitches were worked in blue inside the petals.
Next post with the beads.

I back from my vacation, now settled with my routine. This time it was Singapore and Chennai.
Time spent at Chennai was completely taken over by dentist appointments[ root canal, crowning everything painful!]
This blue tunic fabric is printed mercerized cotton. I liked the pattern and colour so much, that wanted to wear immediately. But after some time ,a yoke pattern idea came to mind. I tried it on this tunic-

I used dark blue striped fabric for yoke. Hence the heading ‘dark blue yoke on blue tunic’ – actually Iam running out of names of the tunics I post. I name them for my reference, though, it is getting hard.
This yoke pattern is made of motif border.I left the centre space empty.the tailor did a decorative neckline. I have the pattern , if anyone is interested
The motif is worked in two colours of thread and embellished with beads.
The embroidery started with the variegated thread outline, the first colour on the motif-

Rest on my next post.

This tunic fabric is different from my usual cotton addiction. A family friend suggested this out let , where they sell synthetic fabrics. I too wanted to try my designing on these fabrics. This tunic is brown[ they call it brasso work!] with red and gold print.
I wanted a simple yoke, so the base fabric chosen was brown.
The pattern is a geometrical repeat pattern, the idea was to work the embroidery and add some gold sequins and beads.
The embroidery was done in red and gold colour thread.
It started like this-

Will continue with the yoke on my next post.

The 23rd week stitch of the stitch challenge by Sharon, TAST2010 is waved chain .
now for the stitchsampler-

This line is stitched in zig-zag pattern.
– Adjacent lines of zigzag waved chain st.

waved chain st-1

-the stitch is done right angled-not perfectly ,ofcourse.
In this the thread went around the needle 3 times[instead of 2],I did 5 stitches as line stitch and did some individual stitches too.
the stitch is done in a curved line.

waved chain st-2

In this line the first stitch is of small width, the next longer width.
One normal chain alternated with waved chain.
One stitch in 3 strands , next one single strand.

waved chain st-3

This line is done in 2 colours, first as a normal line, then the stitch done on one direction.
I added beads to this line, not very eye catching, I know.
The individual waved chain [or]waving chain? are facing away from each other.
This line I stitched first chain stitch vertically, then proceeded to add as many stitches till I got a curve, the next stitch, the same thing in opposite direction.
With all these efforts, this looks like quarter buttonhole wheel.

waved chain st-4

After doing the first chain, I tried varying the placement of the next stitches.
One line of buttonhole stitch, with single waved chain.
Arrowhead stitch, waved chain done on top and bottom.
Variations of single waved chain.

waved chain st-5

I arranged 3 single waved chain as an half flower, and did a line of that.
A set of 3 waved chain stitches, arranged as a line in 2 different colours

waved chain st-6

A bead is added to the basic chain.
One waved chain completed with a straight stitch, done in zigzag manner.
. I varied the height of the stitch in this row.

waved chain st-7

Tried to converge 2 waved chain stitches,.this gave an idea of doing butterflies with this stitch.

waved chain st-8

Did one chain in the middle, went around the needle on both sides
Tried a motif with the individual waved chain.

waved chain st1-10

the Stitch sampler is completed here. While I  was doing this sampler, I tried to write each and every row, it was quite tedious, but don’t know whether it is useful. But this sure is avery long post.

waved chain st sampler-4

the sampler is 13 inches long.

This is the 22nd week’s stitch of the stitch challenge by Sharon and is a variation of  chain stitch. The sampler-

Triple chain st-1

learnt to do the stitch on the first row.

The chain st in the middle, is made long&short alternatively .

Here, the chain sts  on the  top and bottom  are made in adjacent holes.

triple chain st-2

The side chainsts are from left to right.

The bolder side chain sts are from right to left.[Great innovations]

I tried some  similar  variations of the side chain sts.

Here, the height of the longtailed side chain sts [really long word] are varied alternatively.

Iam really enjoying this sampler, since Iam only typing the variations now!

Triple chain st-3

This row of triple chainst  is capped with fly stitches.

Laced this row with a ribbon[though not perfectly] you get the idea.

the chain st is whipped in the row[not seen clearly, next time I’ll do it in contrasting thread]

the sides chains are notusual chains , but twisted chains.HA! HA!.

triple chain st-4

the top chain sts are normal chains and the bottom ones are longtailed.

In this row there are two variations in the height of the side chain sts.

This row is for adding beads later.

this row the side stitches are leaning to the left.

Triple chain st-5

Added beads.

A row of zigzag back st, single triple chainst[is that correct?] and shabby beads.

A really wide cretan stitch with triple chain st.

Triple chain st-6

Two rows of vertical version of this st.

Tried some motifs with this stitch.

The sampler is done.It is 14 inches in height.

I enjoyed doing this sampler. From this sampler I have started measuring the height of the sampler piece.
