blue ikat tunic with lemon green sleeves

The last few details about the embroidery on this yoke . the tunic had white colour in it , so the some outlines were worked with white thread. I tried open chain stitch on the flower outlines.

Small mirrors were then attached to the fabric with blue thread.

I found a plain lemon yellow handloom cotton fabric for salwar [Indian style pants] for this tunic top. The whole set was given to the tailor for sewing.

I love this blue and lemon yellow/green combination . I am very fond of the colours of kanjeevaram silk sarees . After buying the blue ikat fabric, the subsequent steps were all because of the kanjeevaram silk saree fever. The inspiration for motif came from ethnic Indian designs. Not much time was employed to work this yoke, and a  very  satisfying project.

This embroidery pattern and working are based on ethnic Indian designs.
The progress on the embroidery on this blue yoke- the tunic being woven ikat, the white colour on the tunic formed light blue streaks in some places. The next colour on the yoke was light blue, this was also worked in herringbone stitches.

With sleeves in lemon yellow, the next colour was lemon yellow with lemon green outline in chain stitch.

The next shade of yellow was from the tunic. chain stitches were worked with this thread.

This yellow shade continues with more outlining in chain stitch. The blue thread comes back again with chain stitch outlines. these are for mirrors.

The completed yoke and tunic on my next post.

After completing the stitch samplers of the TAST challenge, I am resuming the details of the embroidery designs on tunics . this tunic fabric is hand woven ikat fabric in blue.

I don’t have a separate picture of the sleeve fabric. It is pin-tucked fabric in lemon green/yellow block printed with blue floral motifs.
The idea was for a small yoke worked in another fabric of the same blue base.
A simple motif repeat pattern, with round outlines for mirrors.

The thread colours were picked from the tunic and sleeve fabrics. Anchor cotton skeins were used throughout this embroidery.
