50.berry stitch


After working some more variations of berry stitch with other TAST stitches, I completed this stitch sampler.

10.Berry stitches are worked with Pekinese stitch variation ,twisted chain stitch and cross stitch in these three rows

11.I tried some French knots with berry stitches in the first row. Chevron stitch and berry stitch combination forms the second row, berry stitches are worked between basque stitches in the third row.

This is great stitch and easy stitch for beautiful embellishments. I enjoyed working on this stitch sampler.
Beads did not feature in this sampler too. I am yet to start thinking with beads for my samplers. though I get inspired by other people’s bead work , the skill seems to elude me at this time.

I continued working berry stitch along with other TAST stitches. The third  part of the sampler-

8.The berry stitches are worked with running stitch in the first row, feather stitch in the second row and two lines of arrow stitches in the third row.

9.Three berry stitch cluster is worked with buttonhole stitch variation in the first row. long tailed berry stitch and up and down buttonhole are worked in the second row. And berry stitches are worked with two stitches – Italian border stitch variation and individual fly stitch in the third row.

5.The second detached chain stitches over the small detached chain stitches are worked in different ways in these rows. The overlapping detached chain stitches are worked two times in the first row. The overlapping detached chain stitches are worked in open chain stitch variation and twisted chain stitches in the second row. The overlapping detached chain stitches are worked in cable chain stitch in the third row.

6.The inner chain is worked in twisted chain in the first row. The outer chain is a combination of open chain with detached chain on top[or wheat ear stitch, I was not thinking of that stitch at this moment, though] in the second row. The outer chain is worked over the inner chain in the third row.

7.I started working berry stitch over other TAST stitches. The first row is herringbone variation and berry stitch, Cretan stitch with berry stitches are worked in the second row.

This week’s stitch of the TAST 2012 stitch challenge by SharonB is berry stitch or double detached chain stitch or double lazy daisy stitch. I started the sampler today, it looks like this now-

1.The basic berry stitches are worked horizontally in these rows.in the second row long and short berry stitches are alternated. The second detached chain stitches are extended in the third row.

2. The second detached chain stitches are worked with rimjim thread in the first row.. Rest of the berry stitch rows are laced and whipped with rimjim thread.

3.Four corners are worked with berry stitches. The design is repeated in this row.

4.Some motifs with berry stitch are explored in this part of the sampler. The other stitches used are detached chain, stem , Algerian eye, woven wheel, whipped wheel, pistil and buttonhole wheel.
