When combining arrow stitches with other stitches, the other stitches are worked in lighter colour thread, and arrow stitches in darker thread.
The whole sampler was worked with cone thread, which is similar to perle cotton, but which unravels fast when the thread is twisted often.  but  with lots of colour options, they were ideal for working  this stitch.
In this sampler , I did not use different threads or beads. Using them would have given  another dimension to this stitch.

I enjoyed working on this stitch sampler.

Today’s work on this sampler-
2. A row of arrowhead stitches are worked in the middle, and horizontal version of the stitch are on the top and bottom in the first row, but I did not think they’ll look like cross stitch! A broader version of the stitch is worked in dark colour, and individual stitches are worked in lighter colour thread in the second row. After working long individual stitches in dark thread, small stitches in oppsite direction are worked  over them in lighter colour thread in the third row.

3. Diamond and square shapes are worked with this stitch in the first row, a trial of another variation is done in the second row, again with the same cross stitch result. I tried slanting one part of the stitch and worked this variation in the third row.

This week’s stitch on the TAST 2012 stitch challenge by SharonB is arrowhead stitch. After three hectic weeks with family and not touching the needle or thread , today I started working on the sampler of this week’s stitch. The last two weeks stitches will have to be worked on later.
Though this is an easy stitch ,I could work only a few samples today.
The details-
1. The first row is the basic arrow head stitch. The second row is the long and short version of this stitch in two shades. In the third row, three arrowhead stitches are worked together. small arrowhead stitch rows are worked over and below the row of long arrowhead stitches in the fourth row.
