The working of this stitch is here on Queenie’s blog. This being an isolated stitch, I just learned the working of the stitch, so that it can be used on other projects or samplers.
The sampler-
Worked the whipping with the same thread and first and changed the thread for the whipping stitch. Two threads are used for whipping the same cross. Worked upright square herringbone stitch and whipped the four crosses in the next sample. Worked a long straight stitch and crossed at right angles at 3 places and worked the whipping. The last sample is worked on square herringbone stitch.
While working whipped wheel stitch, I never thought of using 4 spokes for whipping. By using 4 spokes, it gave rise to the idea of working the whipping on square herringbone stitches.
