Bags

This braid stitch is definitely a tough stitch to learn. The working of the stitch is on Queenie’s blog.
This stitch was on to learn list for a long time. When Queenie posted on SSS challenge, I decided after a long time, to practice on a pattern. The project was a string bag. The pattern was isolated from a circle pattern on the internet.
After the tracing the pattern on to the cloth, I started with the flower. Not being satisfied with the work, outlined it with back stitch.

Till now the area was small for embroidery, now the stem was so long, that the project was kept on hold for some time. While taking it up again, suddenly realized, the working rhythm was forgotten. After looking at the tutorial, continued with the stitching. This stitch may not be my friend thought was reinforced at this point.

Chinese knot
This is the 33rd stitch on SSS challenge. The working can be found on Queenie’s blog. I loved working this stitch.

After working Rumanian stitches, the embroidery was further embellished with square mirrors worked in variegated thread. The two squares after stitching the mirrors.

It looks like the pouches used by tribal women. I love it. A simple embroidery done on pouch seems like a nice gift.

Stitch Challenges
RPW 2016
This was not touched this whole week, except for the taking a picture of the work left stand still. There is a  fear that if this is not attended soon this will become an unfinished project.

January 17th is the next date for the stitch of the week to be announced on newest TAST challenge.
SSS
Four sided stitch was SSS stitch in December. This stitch sampler was completed this week. The latest stitch is gate stitch. Seems like a simple stitch and the samples could be worked on canvas.
All my embroidery projects were not worked for some time. I am in a dilemma whether to embark on a new project [being new year and all that] or try tackling the neglected ones. To get over this , both options were tried.
Kantha work
The kantha work on sleeves of this maroon and ikat tunic was restarted. This time it was anchor skein. Still working on the sleeve.

Though it has been a busy week stitching wise, I am not able to decide on one project. May be, after starting on SSS sampler, this can be decided.

Stitch challenges
RPW 2016 chart of the week was completed on Saturday.
This week’s stitch on Sunday Stitch School challenge is Danish knot stitch. I want work the samples as a band sampler. Still in the process of thinking on this sampler.
TAST 2016 week’s stitch is Twisted lattice band. The samples were worked in 2014. The link to the details was posted on Pintangle and TAST FB group.

Copper mangalagiri tunic has bead work along the border and is now ready to wear.
A design was drawn for embroidery on a string bag. The idea for this embroidery was from Mary’s Needle and thread blog.

This tunic with printed chanderi fabric on the neck, hem and sleeves came from the tailor. This project needs a small motif to be worked below the neck.

The challenge of 2014 extended into 2015. I am satisfied that these could be completed well within time. These edges are worked on fabrics with an idea of making them into bags. Those projects will be shared on this blog when they are worked.  I hope these are sooner than later.

I caught a viral infection on Sunday and was quite sick and weak. With antibiotics and paracetamol feeling slightly better today. My husband was also affected by this stupid virus.
Now to see the progress made during this last week of this year.
Square ornament
The black work pattern by SEBA designs was worked on 18 count Aida cloth with single strand of Anchor skein. This was a Christmas present for a close friend. Pink stones and pearl beads were added as embellishments.

The work on the cube ornament on 14 count Aida was resumed after this project. The embroidery was completed. Now these have to be brought into cube shape. First time attempting a cube. Feel quite anxious and excited.
