2019 projects

This week was a productive one, stitch wise. I went to the mode of working on wearables a while go. There were so many ideas which were picked from so many places. These ideas have the tendency to vanish after a given time. The inspirations also kept on increasing, it became difficult to bring back the creative thoughts of the time when they started.
After deciding to put  into form at least the ones which were fresh in mind, I started on the projects. It is an exciting experience, with my computer still in dormant stage, the projects seem to be grow.
While working on this week’s projects, my friend wanted to work a chain stitch with metallic thread around her blouse neckline, which was started yesterday.

This mirror work yoke technically got completed, still with the monitor to be set up, it is added in work in progress post.

After working green on this navy tunic, blue colour was started. Maybe I will work another green and then move onto blue again. This project will take more time than I thought.
WIPW218-ncotka-4
This tunic is printed soft cotton with plain fabric for salwar. Certain cross stitch designs worked with white thread resemble lace. The idea seems good. But the designs will be bolder for this tunic. Designing work yet to commence for this project.

This yoke was worked few years ago. The colour looked good when it was worked, but didn’t feel good after it was completed. It was lying idle all this time. Maybe it will look better if the colours are changed. This work started with replacing light green with deeper green.

I have also been drawing some chikan work embroidery designs. Today found some patterns which were drawn last year. They look so different now. Some mirrorwork designs also there. Interesting week so far. The SSS challenge is having so many new stitches, if they aren’t learnt soon, I might get lost. Downloading pictures are also a problem now. The situation might improve next week!

Still the computer monitor is yet to be connected. Eagerly waiting for the big screen to work with. The old one was really slow. And had its own mind.
Started the mirror work on this combo tunic. The markings were not properly placed I suppose, have to rectify it.

The embroidery on this navy soft cotton started with green thread. This being Kashmiri embroidery, It is chain stitch all over.DSC08475

Embroidery was started on this golden yellow fabric for the printed crepe tunic. The colours are chosen from the prints on the tunic. Silk thread is used to work the satin stitches in the centre.WIPW217-bpcretfse-3

Starting new projects was quite exciting. Some yoke designs were also drawn on paper for future projects

My PC is being replaced by another one. Still Waiting for the monitor to be set up. This period I am taking a break from Internet. I could have used the phone, but did not.
The stitch challenges are still to be worked. There are many interesting stitches on SSS challenge, but the projects take most of the time. Being summer[very hot for the past few days] the silk fabrics are set aside and cotton fabrics are getting attention.
The towel edgings were completed.
The old dark red yoke which was started a few weeks ago, went to the tailor after attaching the mirrors on it.

The sewn tunic looks like this, I had thought he would stitch around the shape of the yoke. It was not to be. So another few mirrors can be sewn on it. The markings of the mirror placements are done with white pencil.

This crepe silk fabric somehow came in the summer season awaiting attention.

A synthetic fabric [not sure whether it is satin] in gold is chosen to work the embroidery. The design is a border around the neckline.

When we were in India last month, I bought some fine cotton fabrics for tunics. This fabric is used for blouses for sarees. They come is so many colours. The first colour choice to work next project is navy blue.

I wanted to do this for my friend, she preferred a lighter colour. I had a dark blue tunic with floral machine embroidery in orange bought in Delhi a few decades ago. After deciding to use the same colour scheme on this tunic, a visit to the parlour changed that idea. The present colours are –

A medium size yoke pattern is drawn on paper.
That’s the progress during the week. This coming week should be a productive one.

Somehow time flew away last week before I could write the post on Wednesday. I have been working on some projects. My earlier projects and challenges are set aside for the time being. Few years ago I had made names on towel edgings in cross stitch for my nephews and nieces. Their sons saw these and wanted one for them with their names. They are very young. I thought instead of cross stitch, free style embroidery can be worked. The elder one wanted blue towel.
WIPW215-tob-1
The work is started on this one.
WIPW215-tob-2
The second towel. the younger one wanted a purple towel. I couldn’t get that colour. Designing is completed. I will start after finishing the first one.

WIPW215-top-1
These fabrics are 1 metre each. A tunic is to be made combining these two fabrics.
WIPW215-Greeorcit-1
I have an old yoke, which may be matched with these fabrics. I need to attach some mirrors to go with the green fabric.
WIPW215-Greeorcit-2
This was also an old yoke on black tunic worked with Kashmiri embroidery, this was attached to this variegated tunic fabric.
WIPW215-blamulticolkasht-1
The outline does not look good, planning on filling some places to make it look better. Have to wait and see.

I want to learn buttonholed fly stitch [from last week’s SSS challenge] during this week, Seems like an interesting stitch.

For the past few weeks it was hard to find time to post on the blog. I was in India for a week.
The humid heat in Chennai, was difficult this time.
Though the stitch challenges were ignored, the progress on the projects was good.
The work on the neckline of the cream striped tunic is almost completed.
WIPW214-creatussnt-4
The sleeves of the neutral tussar tunic were also completed. Today, drew markings on tunic front. This will be simple embroidery with beads and sequins.
WIPW214-neutusstz-5
Work on cream chiffon tunic also was fairly good. I am working on the third panel.
WIPW214-creabluts-4
This is a new project. The fabric is tussar. The embroidery will be done around the neck with gold metallic thread and stones and beadsWIPW214-aqgreetusts-1

This was one of those weeks, where nothing went according to any plan. It was hard to find time to work, hard to get to computer.
The stitch challenges were never even thought of during the week.
Whenever I could find time, a few stitches were made.
The chain stitches with metallic thread on neutral tussar fabric progressed only this far.
WIPW213-neutusstz-4
The chain stitch triangles on this cream neckline were worked with variegated silk/ metallic thread.
WIPW213-creatussnt-3
It appears, this coming week too will be the same.

The stitch challenges are not started at all. I really need to work on them.
Projects
The work on cream fabric for the same colour chiffon tunic continued this week too. There are five similar panels in the shape of a long cone. These panels will be attached to the chiffon tunic on two shoulders, neck and sleeves. Stitches are simple -stem, leaf and straight stitches. Stones will also be stitched. At this stage, the first panel is nearing completion.
WIPW212-creabluts-3
The work on the sleeves of neutral tussar tunic progressed a little bit.
WIPW212-neutusstz-3
After tracing the border on the cream silk cotton fabric for the striped tussar tunic, the work started with chain stitch outline in dark maroon silk thread. This following week I will be working on this neckline embroidery.
