red, black gaada tunic

This week was busy stitch wise. It was slow, but interesting too.
Stitch challenges
SSS Challenge
Last week’s stitch was an easy one. This week’s stitch is waiting to be started. Thinking about what fabric to use to learn this stitch.
Beyond TAST
It is hard for me to be creative, being a follower of rules, but I am slowly getting comfortable and have started enjoying the study of stitches. Everyday a stitch is studied on this challenge.
SALs
RPW 2018 is totally neglected for the time being. The black work mandala was completed.

While browsing for embroidery stitches, an inspiration to work Kashmiri embroidery kept coming back. A cream tussar silk fabric is chosen for this tunic project.

Beyond TAST
Three days ago, I started experimenting on this month’s beyond TAST challenge. At the moment, trying some possibilities of a stitch is quite engrossing. Whether it looks nice or applicable is not so important. It is like a stitch journal. Thinking about a stitch is interesting, even if a single stitch is not made on the sampler.
SSS challenge.
The progress on this stitch has gone as far as downloading the stitch, reading the information and browsing some images on the net.
In RPW 2018 it was just downloading the chart.
Flamingo long stitch kit.
Light green was added on the right side.

Lighter green started on the tree two days ago. The work on this kit is quite slow.

Started back stitch on the back of this red gada tunic.WIPW167-rgadamirt-4

Muscat is quite pleasant and cool these days. We had some rain too.
SSS challenge
Since this is the only stitch challenge I am working, may be it is time to put in more work on these stitches. The leaf stitch sampler was completed, and Mille fleur stitch, being an easy one, is to be started on a satin fabric to be later used for towel edging. All the time on browsing seems to have paid off!
Projects
Blue ikat tunic
The working on these motifs is simple and repetitive, the work on these borders will continue till they are ready. Working with metallic silver thread on the chain stitch outline. That way one UFO can be out of the way.

Red and black tunic
This red tunic fabric is called Gaada in my language. It is cotton fabric which has various uses- baby clothing, cloth nappies, bags, furnishings…
The price is not much, and wears well for quite some time. But this red fabric is quite soft, keeps stretching in all directions, needs lining for stabilizing it, is block printed[ which is not seen here, [for some unknown reason!]. The lady from the shop said it may not be suitable. And it was there for blouses. But the fabric interested me enough. This was given for sewing along with a black fabric for shoulders and sleeve borders.

This tunic is crying out for mirrors. If the work on this commences soon, it is possible to wear the tunic this cool season.
