On Sunday stitch school challenge last week’s heavy chain stitch was worked on folk design in red thread. This week’s stitch is interlaced running stitch. Expecting to start the sampler today.
TAST challenge continues from today. This week’s stitch is magic chain or checkered chain. The link to the earlier worked sampler was posted on FB group page.
No progress at all on RPW 2016 challenge. Another challenge for 2017 has started on their blog last week.
Never ending sampler SAL is still in stage of browsing the other people’s work.
Started with green threads on this piece. Some more progress has been made on the curves with a lighter green thread on the curves. The picture will be taken after completing this treatment. Content with the progress on this project this week. It was slightly boring to work the chain stitches. Now working on stem stitch.
If a change is required, a different project has to be worked, which will take time from this project.

January 11, 2017
This was not touched this whole week, except for the taking a picture of the work left stand still. There is a fear that if this is not attended soon this will become an unfinished project.
January 17th is the next date for the stitch of the week to be announced on newest TAST challenge.
Four sided stitch was SSS stitch in December. This stitch sampler was completed this week. The latest stitch is gate stitch. Seems like a simple stitch and the samples could be worked on canvas.
All my embroidery projects were not worked for some time. I am in a dilemma whether to embark on a new project [being new year and all that] or try tackling the neglected ones. To get over this , both options were tried.
The kantha work on sleeves of this maroon and ikat tunic was restarted. This time it was anchor skein. Still working on the sleeve.
Leaf stitches or fishbone stitches are started on the linen string bag. Anchor cotton skein in three colours are combined to create these leaves.
Started chain stitches with gold metallic thread on this raw silk piece. This is a new project.
Though it has been a busy week stitching wise, I am not able to decide on one project. May be, after starting on SSS sampler, this can be decided.

Cyclone in Chennai
We are planning to go to Chennai, India for a week on Friday. This city was ravaged by cyclone on Monday. The electricity is yet to be restored. The mobile connections are also down. It is limping now. it will be a tough time. The next week would be free from stitching.
RPW 2016- this challenge is lagging behind. Previous week’s motifs are started and the motifs and the border can be worked in leisure without the chart now. Yet to do that on this week’s chart.
SSS- This week is a revision of the first five stitches. I am not planning to do anything this week, but will be browsing the other stitchers of this challenge.
TAST- zigzag woven chain is this week’s stitch on this challenge. The link to the samples worked earlier was posted on FB group page yesterday. This is the last stitch for this year. Sharon has hinted that after 100 stitches there might be some change.
This is the only project I am working on this embroidery. This needs to be completed before it goes to the tailor.
Two projects are awaiting to be designed on this subject. One is the orange tunic with chanderi patch and another is a white linen fabric. A basic idea of the design is ready for the white linen, it is yet to be drawn and traced on to white silk cotton piece, when the time permits! The design has to be created for the orange tunic.
I picked up this tunic from the tailor yesterday. The black borders will be worked with mirrors, someday I think! At least the tunic and the idea are ready.
String bag
After tracing the design on to the linen fabric, initial stitches are made in stem stitch. Three strands of three different threads are used. Expectation was more to see the effect of three colours mixed together. It is less than I expected, still happy with it. Will see this after coming back from India.
Wishing for some really small projects to complete faster. All small projects are on sewn tunics. These days my interests in tunic designs seem bigger and bigger. Lots of time has to be invested for these works. Being bigger the designing also takes time. Too many choices and it is hard to draw a line. It appears the RPW challenge might extend way into 2017. That can be the excuse not to join next year’s RPW challenge.

We went to Dubai for the weekend. The weekend in the Gulf is Friday and Saturday.
This week’s chart is a big one consisting of motifs. On Sunday, thinking it is better to stitch a grid similar to the chart to work these motifs. It took most of Sunday and Monday to do this. I have to start working on it from today.
This week’s stitch on this challenge is raised cup stitch. This stitch sampler was worked in the earlier challenge. The link to the post was posted on FB group page.
This week’s stitch on this challenge is Ermine stitch. This stitch was never used before. Looks like an easy stitch. This work might start after the RPW 2016 challenge.
Mirror work tunic.
My friend wanted to learn mirror work and do it on a tunic. This idea and the project started a few months ago. She is leaving for holidays to India. We started to work on this tunic which came back from the tailor on Sunday. Till yesterday evening I was working on it. It is completed now.
This project is the only progress I have made this week. Still satisfied that it could be completed. I bought this calendar in Dubai. Months to be coloured!
November 30, 2016
RPW 2016 chart of the week was completed on Saturday.
This week’s stitch on Sunday Stitch School challenge is Danish knot stitch. I want work the samples as a band sampler. Still in the process of thinking on this sampler.
TAST 2016 week’s stitch is Twisted lattice band. The samples were worked in 2014. The link to the details was posted on Pintangle and TAST FB group.
Yellow silk tunic
After completing the pattern in yellow thread, I started with light green thread.
Copper mangalagiri tunic has bead work along the border and is now ready to wear.
A design was drawn for embroidery on a string bag. The idea for this embroidery was from Mary’s Needle and thread blog.
I also picked up the kantha work on black fabric for maroon black ikat tunic.
This tunic with printed chanderi fabric on the neck, hem and sleeves came from the tailor. This project needs a small motif to be worked below the neck.
Now to start the Danish knot sampler.
November 23, 2016
The weekly chart on RPW 2016 challenge had motifs this week. These were completed on Sunday
This week’s stitch on the new TAST challenge is top knotted buttonhole stitch. The link to the details of the samples worked earlier was posted yesterday on FB page.
I started a bit late on SSS challenge started by Queenie. The samples of the first two stitches of the challenge were worked during this week. The third stitch is cross stitch. Since, there is a weekly cross stitch challenge, I might skip working it on this challenge. The workings of the stitches and other related details are available on Queenie’s blog.
Yellow silk tunic
Though the orange and violet combo tunic is kept aside for the time being, there is another kutchwork project, which was started this week.
The embroidery on brown silk was completed and ready to go to the tailor.
Copper mangalagiri tunic
The motifs worked inside the filling pattern are extended further this week. Some bead work needs to be done on the zari border.
This week was quite interesting mainly due to the SSS challenge. There is definitely some fulfillment in learning and exploring embroidery stitches.
Two more embroidery projects are waiting to be designed this week.
