June 2018

I was supposed to write this post yesterday evening. But my PC had already made plans for long update.
Two more braids were worked on Beyond TAST challenge. I have decided to try the last few week stitches of SSS challenge and work few samples. This plan is for tomorrow.
The outline on kantha work on black fabric was completed. The sleeves and tunic fabrics are ready to go the tailor.

And the chain stitch embroidery on cream tussar tunic is building up on the yoke.

Now the tailor is fairly free after Ramadhan, it is time to design some embroideries on the fabrics which were bought earlier. Maybe time to start with blouses. Will post the progress on them later.

Two days ago I started this linear stitch study sampler. Still not sure the way to explore these linear stitches.
Started with back stitch.
BTAST18-5-1a
Double back stitch, whipped back stitch, working crosses in between back stitches are the variations here.
BTAST18-5-1b
How to fill a shape with free style Cretan stitches was tried in the second sample.
BTAST18-5-2
May be some decorative borders can be tried with these linear stitches.
The linear stitches worked on this sample are- herringbone, buttonhole and chain stitches.
BTAST18-5-3
The centre is worked in coral stitch, with two rows of running stitches and stem stitch outlines are worked  in this sample.
BTAST18-5-4
The base is Cretan stitch, with fly stitches in this sample, after outlining both sides with closed buttonhole stitch variation, worked rope stitches in light blue thread.

The idea of working decorative borders with linear stitches might work.

It was hectic two weeks. We went to Sur [4 hrs drive] previous weekend and it was Ramadhan holidays last weekend.it was break from stitch challenges. Thinking about the challenges cannot be counted as active working.
But catching up the kantha work on ikat tunic started. I was working on one sleeve, before setting it aside.
WIPW118-marblaikatkantha-5
Fillings have been completed on both sleeves as of now.

The sleeves of cream tussar have also started blooming this week.

Now on the mission to complete the kantha work. Then the time for Beyond TAST and SSS starts.

For the past few days I was away from the computer, slowly getting back to routine.
The linear stitches are being explored on Beyond TAST this month. While working the earlier TAST challenges, many linear stitches were studied, explored and tried. I am yet to think of ways to work this month’s challenge.
Petal stitch and pearl stitch samplers were worked during this week on SSS challenge. They are small band samplers and easy to work. The details of these will be posted soon.
Another colour thread was started on the yoke for the cream tussar tunic. Paisley design again!
WIPW180-creamtust-5
The colours are ok for leaves and veins, another colour needs to be brought in for flowers, which shouldn’t overshadow the greens. Still working on greens for the time being.
