January 2016

This week’s pattern is a continuation of last week’s edge. The free graph for this edge is available here. This  is a sampler which will be worked throughout 2016. Every week a part of the sampler will be posted on this blog. They have mentioned that alphabets are part of this sampler. I like working on Aida cloth, the stitches look even and neat. The handloom matti makes each stitch askew and the overall effect is untidy. It is okay for stitch challenge, but there is no satisfaction after finishing the challenge, if it is worked on fabric with uneven holes and loose weave.

The cube ornament worked in Seba designs Black work was completed. The designer is posting a design every week. Three designs have been posted so far on facebook group. Few people have been participating in this SAL. The designs are intricate and beautiful. The cube –

I started with the second design. The same square pattern needs to be worked six times to make a cube. This time it is not a cube ornament but a square ornament. The design needs to be worked twice. Saves time too. This is worked on 14 count Aida with anchor cotton skein and variegated fine silk thread. Hope this project is worked during the following week.

A few more kutch work borders were drawn in the last two evenings for kutch work border designs collection.

An idea of working Kashmiri embroidery [chain stitch] on crepe silk fabric is at the searching for the right design stage. Will be happy to start the embroidery on this project next week.

This is also a yearlong project. Hoping and wishing that I am able to work this challenge. This is a long sampler worked on 14 count Aida. I am using Anchor variegated thread for this whole challenge. the free graph for this week’s pattern is here.

Starting with the border.

The challenge of 2014 extended into 2015. I am satisfied that these could be completed well within time. These edges are worked on fabrics with an idea of making them into bags. Those projects will be shared on this blog when they are worked.  I hope these are sooner than later.
