6.In the first sample, after working sheaf stitch , the top knotted buttonhole stitches are looped through them in Pekinese stitch style. Arrowhead stitches are worked below the knots in the second sample. Top knotted buttonhole stitch is whipped and Italian border stitches are worked between the knots in the last sample.

This stitch looks quite decorative by itself, combining it with other stitches gives scope to explore this stitch. I happy that I learnt this lovely stitch. As Queenie patch mentioned it looks like Thai script. In our country, some eastern languages like, Bengali, Oriya and Assamese script also look like this but with more curves.

This week’ stitch of the TAST 2013 challenge by SharonB is up and down feather stitch. This stitch was part of the earlier TAST challenge. I had posted my old sampler here. After dealing with the variations of the stitch last time, this time I tried working this stitch with other TAST stitches. The sampler –

3.A line of feather stitch is worked over the up and down feather stitch in the first row, small up and down feather stitches are worked in dark green in the spaces of up and down feather stitch row in the second sample. Not very impressive though!

Stitch combinations are interesting, and if the stitch itself can be worked differently, it gives more opportunity for learning and practicing the stitch. Today’s explorations-
The last part of the sampler-

The details-
6.In these samples, I tried isolating this stitch and working them in diamond and square shapes.

12.60.dia st-6

12.60.dia st-6

7.The same isolated diamond stitches are worked in the first row, the starting point of the following stitch is inside the preceding stitch. I tried working two diamond stitches together to form a broad seam, I got this idea from looking at Annet’s samples.

12.60.dia st-7

12.60.dia st-7

8.The diamond stitches are worked at angle in these rows, first row is to the right and the second row to the left. In these samples, I took an effort to stitch by angling the needle, whereas when I started this sampler, the stitches themselves angled in all directions-LOL!

12.60.dia st-8

12.60.dia st-8

9. In the first row, the diamond stitch is whipped on both sides.in the second row, rimjim thread is used to lace a diamond stitch row, Pekinese stitch is worked under the diamond stitch row in the third row. A beaded diamond stitch is worked in the fourth and last row. The idea for the last row was also from the same blog

The whole sampler-

While I was struggling with this stitch at the beginning of the sampler, the thought was to work some stitch combinations through which this stitch could also be practiced. But after the practice, I wanted to explore this stitch. Which made this exercise quite interesting.

I experimented this diamond stitch with other TAST stitches today.

3.The first row is with sheaf stitch and the second row is with Algerian eye stitch variation.

After working on some more samples this week’s triangular feather stitch sampler is completed.
The last part of the sampler-

6. In these rows, the triangles are worked in the same manner, the variations are only on the basic feather stitches. The first row is worked with up and down feather stitch. In the second row, the feather stitches are facing away from each other, making the first feather stitches look like chain stitches [ this detail is to remind me at a later date, the working of this sample] . The third row is worked with knotted feather stitches.

4.52.triferst-6

7 .In these samples, other TAST stitches are worked with triangular feather stitches. The other stitches are-french knots and Italian border stitches in the first row, wheat ear and fly stitches in the second row, chain and arrowhead stitch in the third row.

4.52.triferst-7

4.52.triferst-7

8 .The first row is worked with pistil stitches and sheaf stitches, the second row with herringbone, buttonhole variation and oyster stitches .
Maintaining the triangular part of this stitch I tried working two other stitches. In the third row, with closed buttonhole stitches and in  the fourth row  with basque stitches. I suppose we can try many options working like this.

With this last sample, the stitch sampler is completed.

This is great stitch and easy stitch for beautiful embellishments. I enjoyed working on this stitch sampler.
Beads did not feature in this sampler too. I am yet to start thinking with beads for my samplers. though I get inspired by other people’s bead work , the skill seems to elude me at this time.

I continued working berry stitch along with other TAST stitches. The third  part of the sampler-

50.berry st-sampler3
